But, at the same time, the ad neglects concerns of customers of their health and has certain sexual implications. In such a way, the traditional American values come into clashes with the main message of the ad. At any rate, the ad stresses that the pleasure consumers receive from the product advertised are prior to their health. Hence, the ad has low pro-social value. Thus, taking into account all above mentioned, it is important to place emphasis on the fact that the three ads discussed above focus on specific target customer groups and reach their target audience.

Lastly, the ad uses logos because it is logical for anyone to want to become healthier. This advertisement seems like it will persuade many people to join their gym. This catalyst fitness advertisement uses Ethos less then it uses Pathos and Logos. However, Ethos is still detectable in the ad. The large muscular arm in the ad is an example of Ethos. The arm is the largest figure in the advertisement, and the ad is organized in a way that it seems as if the person with that muscular arm is speaking.

Anyone with large muscles that is promoting a gym advertisement will be respected. It shows that by working out in that gym, anyone can become as well fit as the muscular arm in the advertisement. This will persuade people to go to that gym so that they can potentially become more muscular.

Pathos is the most noticeable aspect to this advertisement. The ad also says that everyone will love you for it. They are explaining that by going to the gym and becoming a physically better person, you will love yourself, and by loving yourself, others will begin to love you too. This is a strong statement in the advertisement because it will evoke emotions of loneliness from a person and motivate them to go to the gym and look good and feel good. Logos is also an important aspect to this advertisement.

The main point of this ad is to persuade the audience to go to their gym and become healthier. For a writer, it is difficult not to analyze the complex advertisement because it is fascinating. The text implies a political position of protecting ecology, educating others on the subject and implies assertiveness.

When I assign an analysis of an advertisement, I do not provide the ad but my students are given the assignment of finding three full page ads that present a complex mixture of images and text. The students bring the ads to the next class and I select which one will be used for an essay. This is itself an interesting task and students must use their critical thinking skills to evaluate the complexity and messages the ads offer. The lack of text that can be subjected to analysis makes this sort of ad worthless for the prompt. If the prompt required a student analyze an image, the ad might be acceptable, but it offered no complexity of images and textual content.
